I suppose it happens to the best of writers, the novice writers, bloggers, and just about anyone else that writes. Now It has happened to me. I have nothing to write about.
I stare at the blank page and try to think of something interesting to say. Unlike Gwendoline, excited about an actual book she is having published, I cannot even seem to complete an actual post much less an entire book! With my very generic name-mommermom-I could write about anything really. I was going to update my cheesy-zucchini-rice. Getting all excited about sharing it, I took pictures and wrote down the changes but then it hardly seemed worth mentioning in a full post. If I were a more confident seamstress I could post another sewing tutorial or offer an update on the project I am currently working on-sewing 150 of my zippered bags.
If I were a true gardening blog, I would tell you marvelous stories about our little garden and how exciting it is to cook up some fresh zucchini.
(which I may still do as the garden yields more veggies). Sarah over at Coffee to Compost helps to keep me motivated.
I could share the sad saga of our cat,
that we had put down after 16 years of being a faithful and beloved pet. There has been no vacation this year as we stayed home and nursed our ailing Kitty Boy until the end.
If I were a great photographer like Two Trails One Road , I might share some amazing photos. I could post about the weather (again) but with all the heartache, flooding, and weather related tragedies going on in so many places, it seems a little shallow to talk about the May gray that is now turned into June gloom.
I take time to read many blogs and have chuckled to wonder what happened to Marlene’s grinder or the next gorgeous painting taking shape over at The Contented Crafter, what adorable sewing projects Scooby or Sewlovable have stitched up or delightful recipes Rosemarie’s Kitchen has shared. Masgautsen might have taken another delightful trip or an enjoyable long weekend. She always seems to have such fun. Lani recently got back from a beautiful Hawaiian vacation and I envy how comfortable she is in far away lands! I could tout the joy of retirement (which only gets better) but that can soon become an old topic for those who have been at it awhile or those who get up early to head off to work. Colin is no longer tramping in the woods but has moved on with an exciting new blog and Stonecrop Sister is also making changes to her blog. I too would like to make changes but am at somewhat of a loss as to the more technical aspects of WordPress.
Actually, life is good. Thommmee, 12 grandchildren, 6 grown kids, our large family, wonderful friends, church activities, gardening, sewing, cooking, catching up with many more blogs, and life in general keep me plenty busy! I have even started reading again.

I just don’t seem to have much to say…

Ahhhh, thank you! It is a’job’ keeping up with blogging! The writing as well as the reading. I am committed ( and enjoy) the endeavor but it is not always easy! 😉

Over and over, as I read what’s in my “reader” there seems to be a theme going on this month – maybe we are all so busy – maybe it’s something in the air or water or whatever – everyone seems to be struggling for some reason. I’m hoping by catching up on my “reading” it will inspire me to write. Yours is one I always enjoy.

I have missed reading your blog so much, Nancy! Hope you’ll be back in business very soon. I to do a lot of container gardening too. We don’t have a lot of space in our little yard and a few years ago pulled up most of the plants in the back to dedicate to veggies. In the past couple years we made a mistake of going on vacation either during planting or harvesting and have decided to not doing that again.😄 In the future we will be mindful of planning vacations around this ha ha! Thank you so much! We have two other cats but I too have thought about not bringing any more pets into my life at this point. Your zucchini dish sounds fantastic. I probably will come up with some gardening news or some recipes, who knows? I am excited about your book- that is so wonderful. I look forward to having an opportunity to read it. Thank you so much mommermom for mentioning me. I think everyone has a story to tell, just in the act of living, and we should not sell ourselves short. Too many out there ready to do that on our behalf! So as I read your post, my mind was flying. Zucchini and cheese thingy using home-grown zucchini? Well, I can’t grow veggies, and it’s been a while since I did any serious cooking, but I did stuff an over-sized zucchini a while back, using corn and cheese and dill and it was very tasty. Went over well for my vegetarian party guests. Might we see a demo from you based on a variation? Then I got to the part about your cat. So sad for you. I had a beautiful Siamese who was a great companion, and even though it has been twenty years I still miss her and have never brought myself to have another pet. For weeks after she died I saw her shadow everywhere, and if I turned around quickly I thought she was actually there. It was very hard to let her go. Big hugs to you.

oh, how my heart tugs when I read about a family pet leaving us. I never was allowed pets growing up. But now we’ve had many, and I so sympathize with you caring for and having to say good bye to Kitty Boy.
I would actually love to hear more about what you are growing in your garden, and your hopes for it:). I have really gone more to containers now, I seem to have more success with these. Flowerbeds have defeated me the last few years. We had a space in back for some tomato plants but we haven’t put in any this year. However, I have really become much more of a homebody these last few months, so I might yet do something with this space. Loved this post, I will be looking at your fav blogs, thanks for those links. So very kind of you to include mine, especially when I have not been very productive lately:) xx Nancy

Marlene, thank you so very much and for the kind words. I really don’t understand the ping back concept. Hmmmm… It is so hard to lose a pet isn’t it? I’m sorry you had to go through it but glad you were able to endure. I know I will also. I mentioned your grinder because that story just made me laugh so much! Pictures certainly can evoke the marvelous and (even some not so marvelous) memories. Although I hope you’re well does not run dry, I will have my eyes open for your stories to come. You always have such interesting things to talk about on your blog and I do enjoy it. Keep writing!

I’m excited to hear what you were working on. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next post and a glimpse into all of these projects you are keeping from us :D. Yes, how very fortunate that you were not adversely affected by your downpour. We could use a little rain here, however, my heart goes out to all of the people who have been so tragically impacted with too much rain. My brother is a long distance truck driver and when I see what’s happening across our country I’m always wondering where he is at and if he is safe. He laughs and tells me not to worry. I guess it is in our nature just to worry a bit about the people (and the pets) that we love so much💙

I understand completely – and am in a similar situation. Many are asking if I am okay, isn’t it ice that friends do that for each other on-line when we disappear for a while? I am making some things, just nothing I can show right now.
Are you missing your Kitty Boy? Even when we know it is the best thing to do it is such a grievous process – to first of all accept the time has come and then to take the necessary steps. And then to hear them around the house at odd times. I would hear my old girl at the door for weeks after she had gone and at first I would open the door to check ….. They make a place in our hearts and when they leave there is a small hole or a larger one…… and we feel it. .
I’m sorry your summer is a bit yech – the summer before last was like that here. We have just had a flooding event after a downpour that delivered three months worth of rain in 24 hours, and I discovered that my tiny house is fortuitously sited on a part of the street which rises almost imperceptibly above the flood line. How fortunate is that?

Our pets really do become a part of our family. I’m sorry for your loss. Sounds like you are being quite productive though.What’s the plan for the bags? They’re really nice.

Jan, you have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your feline family member. I still miss my dog and it’s been several years. They grow in your heart and stay there. Thank you for the (pingback?) My grinder has come unstuck for the moment but you did an excellent job of writing about nothing in particular; just a slice of life. I was going through photos the other day now that they have been unearthed, and realized the memories they brought back I could share. My son admonishes me when I tell a tidbit. Why has he not heard that story before?? I guess that will be my fall back when the well runs dry. When you are grieving, and you are, you need to take a bit of time and sit with it. We’ve all been there. Hugs and love.
