I am a mom. I am also a wife, grandmother, sister, woman of faith, and friend. I love to camp, sew, read, and spend time with family and friends. I enjoy crafting, learning new things, and most recently…. retiring! This is a new phase of my life. I am excited and a bit apprehensive.
Although I began my blog with a simple thought in mind, I was surprised to find that I enjoy this rather public form of journaling! Blogging has allowed me to rediscover writing, soul-searching, and expressing creativity in a new way. After many years of working in a social services environment and the commitment to others that profession involves, dare I now hope to find my own passions and interests?
Check back to see what creations I may stitch up, new recipes I might stumble upon, other craft projects I may attempt or insights I may be compelled to share. I don’t consider myself particularly creative but I do plan to have a good time finding out what I might be capable of!
Oh how we can relate to your observations of the “system”. I spent 39 years in social work and soooo enjoyed my work but the bureaucracy kept getting in the way. This is when I once again distinctly felt the hand of God helping me see it was time to move on to His other plans for us. Enjoy this next chapter and please keep sharing it with us. Gods obviously not done with us, lol.

I worked in the welfare department helping people get back on their feet through jobs, education, and life skills. When the bureaucracy that paper was more important than people and tried to force this delicate balance I knew it was time to retire. Although a little earlier than expected, I have never regretted my decision. Retirement is the best!

Great “about” page. Its going to be fun following along with you and seeing the world through your eyes and words. Isn’t retirement life the best, lol. Now we get to do what we want to do and when we want too, lol. If we may ask what specialty did you work in social services.
